Chronicle: Just two days after joining the morning show at CAAM Partnership LLC Classic Country KKXA-AM & K266CJ /Seattle to announce her retirement after a 60-year radio career (CAT 6/14), the station's weekend host, Charlye Parker, died June 16. In her farewell show, she revealed that she had very recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Her career in Country included KHAY/Ventura, CA, where she was PD/MD and did mornings for 21 years, as well as time at KRZY/Albuquerque; KMPS/Seattle; KWYZ/Everett, WA; and KGHL/Billings, MT, the latter as OM/PD/MD. She had been at KKXA for 12 years. The station's Stitch Mitchell shared on Facebook, "We are all so thankful that we could honor her and her farewell show Friday. Her final mic drop. We will be honoring her legacy throughout this week."
