Chronicle: Veteran label executive and manager Mary Martin passed July 5. Born in Toronto, Martin moved to New York City in 1962 and worked as a management assistant. She later managed Leonard Cohen and Van Morrison early in their careers. In 1972, she was named Dir./A&R at Warner Bros./New York, where she signed Emmylou Harris. In 1979, she went back into management, guiding the careers of Rodney Crowell and Vince Gill. Relocating to Music City, she was named VP/A&R at RCA/Nashville in 1985, with Clint Black and Lorrie Morgan among her signees. She later spent time as VP/A&R at Mercury amd sister label Lost Highway, and was inducted into the Source Hall of Fame in 2007. No word on services.
